You don't have to stop your life to stop drinking
Many people who struggle with alcohol are still working, parenting, and showing up every day. Outpatient treatment at Diamond Counseling Center is built for exactly that: structured, evidence-based care on a schedule that fits around your job and family — including evening IOP sessions Monday–Wednesday, 6:00–9:00 PM.
Our alcohol treatment programs
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Group and individual sessions several days per week. Morning IOP meets Monday through Thursday, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (Monday and Wednesday in person, Tuesday and Thursday virtual), with attendance based on the treatment plan. Evening IOP: Monday in person, Tuesday and Wednesday virtual, 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Typically 12 weeks, with length based on clinical need.
Outpatient counseling
Ongoing individual therapy for alcohol use at a lower intensity, a fit for milder concerns or as a step down from IOP.

Telehealth
Virtual IOP for New Jersey residents (weekly in-person visit for urine screening).
Just finished detox?
Detox handles withdrawal; it isn't treatment. If you or a family member is completing an alcohol detox program, our step-down IOP is the next step — admission is generally available within 1 week of discharge.
Is outpatient the right level for alcohol treatment?
Outpatient care fits when you're medically stable, have somewhere safe to live, and can commit to scheduled sessions. Every client starts with a substance use evaluation so the recommendation matches your situation — and if you need a higher level of care first, we'll say so and help you find it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need inpatient rehab for alcohol, or is outpatient enough?
Many people do well in outpatient alcohol treatment if they're medically stable and have a safe living situation. We start every client with an evaluation and recommend honestly — including a higher level of care when that's what's needed.
Can I keep working during alcohol treatment?
Yes — that's what our evening IOP (Mon–Wed, 6–9 PM) is designed for. Read more about working during treatment →
Do I have to stop drinking before starting IOP?
You don't need to have everything figured out to start. If you're likely to experience significant withdrawal, medical detox may need to come first — the evaluation determines that safely.
Does insurance cover alcohol IOP in New Jersey?
Coverage depends on your specific plan. Diamond verifies your benefits and any required authorization before you start.
How long does outpatient alcohol treatment take?
IOP is typically 12 weeks, with length based on clinical need, followed by step-down outpatient counseling as needed.
Is virtual alcohol treatment available?
Yes — virtual IOP is available to New Jersey residents, with a weekly in-person visit to our North Brunswick office for urine screening.
