Evening Intensive Outpatient Program — Recover Without Leaving Your Job

Our night groups meet Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 6:00–9:00 PM — Monday evening in person at our North Brunswick office, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings by secure video. Minutes from New Brunswick, Edison, and East Brunswick. Get real treatment for drug or alcohol addiction — without telling your employer or giving up your paycheck.

Marsha Tipelin, Clinical Director, LCSW, LCADC

Most intensive outpatient programs in New Jersey meet during business hours — which means choosing between your recovery and your paycheck. You shouldn't have to make that choice.

Diamond Counseling Center offers an evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a hybrid program based at our North Brunswick office: Monday in person, Tuesday and Wednesday virtual, 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Same clinical program, same licensed team — scheduled so you can finish your workday first.

Call (732) 248-1805 or verify your insurance below. Free, same-business-day benefits verification.

Night Treatment Groups in Middlesex County

Sessions meet Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at night, 6:00 to 9:00 PM, typically for 12 weeks with length based on clinical need. Groups stay small — 6 to 10 people — so you're not lost in a crowd. Night groups cover the same evidence-based programming as our morning track, and your week is done by Wednesday.

Monday evening meets in person at our North Brunswick office on Route 27. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are virtual (secure video). Our virtual format combines online sessions with an in person Monday visit at our North Brunswick office, which includes the program's weekly urine screening.

The program is for adults 18 and older working on substance use. Alongside group sessions, your treatment can include individual therapy and family therapy.

We do not provide detox. If you need medical detox first, we'll help you find it and hold your place for when you're ready to step down.

Alcohol-specific concerns? See our alcohol treatment page → Co-occurring mental health? Dual diagnosis treatment →

Prefer online? Tuesday and Wednesday evening sessions can be attended via telehealth (Monday evening meets in person).

Who Evening IOP Is For

Nobody at work needs to know. Treatment is confidential, and because sessions are in the evening, you may not need to explain an absence from work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my employer find out I'm in treatment?

No. Your treatment is completely confidential and protected under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. We never release information without your written consent.

I'm worried about fitting treatment around my work schedule. How does evening IOP work?

Evening IOP is designed specifically for working people. Sessions run Monday–Wednesday, 6–9 PM, so you can work a full day and still make treatment. Sessions end by 9 PM so you can get home at a reasonable hour.

I failed a drug test at work. Can you help?

Yes. We work with many clients referred through workplace situations. We can coordinate with your employer or EAP as needed — with your consent — to provide documentation of your treatment participation.

I have depression and anxiety along with my addiction. Do you treat that?

Yes. Dual diagnosis treatment is included in our program. We address both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD together, not separately.

How long is evening IOP?

Typically 12 weeks with length based on clinical need, though some clients complete sooner and others benefit from additional time.

What if I have travel or schedule changes?

We adjust as needed. You can move between day and evening groups, attend virtually when traveling, or make up sessions. Life happens — we work with you.

Is evening IOP as intensive as daytime programs?

Yes. It's the same clinical program, same licensed clinicians, same group structure — just scheduled in the evening.

Is AA or NA required?

No, 12-step participation is not required. However, we encourage it as a free, widely available support system that complements clinical treatment. We help clients find meetings that fit their schedule and comfort level.

What happens if I miss a session?

We call to check in — we don't kick people out. Recovery has setbacks. If you miss a session, we reach out to make sure you're okay and help you get back on track.

Can I continue seeing my outside therapist while in IOP?

Yes. We coordinate with your existing providers — therapists, psychiatrists, primary care doctors — so your care stays aligned. Just let us know who's on your treatment team.

Can I work full-time while attending evening IOP?

Yes. Evening IOP meets 3 nights per week (Monday–Wednesday, 6–9 PM), specifically designed for people who work full-time.

What insurance do you accept?

We're in-network with Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Horizon BCBS, and accept most NJ Medicaid plans. Private pay options available. Call (732) 248-1805 to verify your coverage — we check benefits the same business day.
